FAIL

Seven months ago, Hawaii became the only state in the Union to offer UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE FOR ALL CHILDREN! Hurrah hurrah. Hold on, a parade spontaneously erupted over here when I announced that, let's let it pass....

..Ok, tumbling girls in gymnasts outfits...

.....marching band....

........clowns with candy.... midgets with sparklers.....

Ok, back to the matter at hand.

As of today, Hawaii is no longer the only state in the Union to offer UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE FOR ALL CHILDREN! Why, because another brave state has stepped up to the plate to address this (cough cough) crisis?

No, because Hawaii declared it a failure and dropped the program. They couldn't afford it. Turns out that people who already had health coverage for their children were dropping their bought-and-paid-for coverage to take advantage of the state-offered freebie. Hey, can you blame them? It's all about the Benjamins, baby.

Now those unfortunate souls are going to have to sacrifice their Big Screen TV fund to pay for their children's health care again! OUTRAGEOUS!!! PAY??? For something as IMPORTANT as their CHILDREN'S WELL BEING? That oughtta be FREE!

To summarize:
Health Care for your kids: Important. Someone else should foot the bill.
Big Screen TV: I'll drop a month's wages on that shit.

It's all about where you place your priorities.

When I'm King of the World (and I will be), there will be no state-provided health care. There WILL, however, be a state-bought Big Screen TV hanging on every wall. Six of one, half dozen of the other....

i've been to hawaii. far more intimately than i'd care to have been. most of the state can't afford health care. so they're all funded already by the government. it's called MEDICAID.

their program didn't change a thing. except, as you deftly noted, provided a few more families the opportunity to watch "the batchelor: maui" in HD.
